Nancy Silverman’s career in the interior plant business began in a similar way to that of other industry entrepreneurs – by fulfilling an unmet need, and definitely by accident! In 1973 Nancy was selling plants in a retail store on Coventry Road. She eventually sold some plants to a Dentist who asked if she could create a more soothing & relaxing environment to counter the stress and anxiety that often are present on visits to the Dentist’s office. Three weeks later the Dentist called to say how much he and his patients enjoyed the beauty and respite the plants created, but that, unfortunately, he had killed them with kindness. The Dentist requested new plants and then asked if Nancy could maintain them to ensure they were healthy and looking good at all times and Nancy agreed. That was customer #1.
Shortly thereafter around the holidays a corner retail space became available at the historic Shaker Square. Nancy opened up and never looked back. Shaker Square was happily our home for 21 years until we outgrew the space and it no longer could service the growing divisions of the organization.

1988 - Holiday division is created
1990 - Blooms floral division is created
2000, April - Plantscaping moves from Shaker Square to Midtown
2001, April - Plantscaping is featured on the cover of Interior Landscape Business Magazine
2005, March - Hospitality division is created with Marriott International as first client
